I just bought a Nero 3 and am wondering if it was a good buy or not. I have a 15g cube, currently has a clown, a pipe organ coral, a Duncan, and zoas. Plan to eventually add a torch, Xenia, rock flower news, and a possum wrasse, maybe lobophyllia, acans or scolymia. Is the Nero 3 a necessity for my tank or is the return pump enough?

Could you get by without it with that set of livestock? Maybe, I guess. Regardless I think you'll end up being happy you have it. It was a good buy.

Overkill to be sure, but nice nevertheless. Something like this would be much better. I have a few of them and they are real workhorses. You could also get a spin stream (have to clean it every 3 months or it freezes up due to buildup). Or Google "random flow generator" and you'll find the VCA one. If you plan on keeping SPS in the future, keep the Nero though.

decided to keep it. Any ideas for settings? Thanks.

Currently have it mostly on random with 20% max, with constant 25% for an hour at night in hopes to blow around detritus. Any experiences with the pulse mode?
