anyone tried out the 15k xm mogul base? Im thinking about buying some but want some opinions of people that already have them. Im gonna be running them on magnetic running at 250 watts. Thanks guys for the input.

Hey I had them and LOVED them. I had to sell the tank to move, but will probably do them again when I reset up the new beast!

I had them on a Mag Ballast.

Here is a pic of my tank running them.

yeah that looks pretty good, I think I will go with those. How do they compare to the 20k's? Have you tried those on that tank before Rev? I put the 20k xms on the 1,500 and they seem a little too blue.

I run the 400w xm 15k's on my farm system and they're amazing, people say that they get low par but zoos seem to love them, a very nice crisp blue for sure

if there is enough par to keep them alive thats prety much all I car about, I dont frag out of this tank unless things are overgrowing one another. I think you have made up my mind. Know of anywhere I can get them cheaper than 59.99?

i would only run them on 400w. i've run them on 175w, and 250w SE magnetic ballasts. they are way dim if you are used to strong light. the XM20k's are much brighter than their 15k counterpart.

i always liked the 15k's, but after seeing how bright the 20k's are....and now that i'm so used to running a radium on a 250w HQI (bright!), i'm not sure i can go back to the 15k on my smaller tank.

i have the 20k's right now-they are just way to blue for me, i already bought the 15ks and if they are dim on my tank like they say they were for you I might have some 15k's for sale soon haha. thanks surfn

you could always run them on an HQI ballast, lol ;)

although, i have no idea how that would effect bulb performance. its something i'm tempted to try so i wont have to replace a $90 bulb every 5 months (actually about $100 after shipping)
