Hey all, just started testing mag on my newish setup. I use Fritz RPM and my mag test consistently are around 1650, calcium 460 and alk 7-7.5. Should I be concerned with the 1650? All I have are torch and hammers now but will eventually go up to sps.

Thanks in advance.

Just made a batch of fresh salt water and readings were mag 1460 calc 460 and alk 10.2. I tested everything twice to make sure I got the same numbers. May just have to do a few large water changes to get where I want.

It will come down on its own over time; I wouldn't worry about it much. What test kit are you using? I've read a few posts that suggest the Red Sea kits can have issues with magnesium but I've got no first hand experience with them.

I switched away from Fritz for the same reason. Way too inconsistent for me. Topic Marin has been super consistent and everyone is happier.

We shall see what the rest of this box does. My lfs only sells and uses Fritz, that’s why I went with them this time. And they always have it on sale.
