Currently have 3 165w viparspectra black boxes that make my tank look good but I believe caused all my coral to bleach. I have them 11 inches off the water and the tank is 24 deep.

I had the settings on 55 blue 20 white and my jack o lantern and meteor shower turned white along with my nems they are no longer green and are clear. Parameters are all ok too which is crazy. But all my zoas were drooping and everything is losing color.

I have a bit of cash aside and I was considering going t5 hybrid to be more consistent with lighting but I'm not sure what to do, if I can fix these I'd like to get them working and buy better coral...

Any help is appreciated thanks. I now have the lights on 35 blue 1 white. Trying to get stuff to recover. You can see the bleached hammers.

I don’t belive that’s enough light to bleach them.
The lepto and the meteor shower yes , they tend to be lower light coral but not the nems.

I have an icp test on the way hopefully thatll tell me something. But I have had all 4 nems turn white except my sherman

Agreed I dont think the lights would cause that. It's not like you a blasting 100% with the lights touching the water haha.

I know but what else causes nems to bleach?

Is it just the nems? Or are other corals starting to bleach?

Zoas have lost color and shape. I moved these two on the bottom to recover that's why stretching. The pink one is a wwc sweets and no color anymore

When was the tank set up?
The reason i ask it looks newly set up because of the green dusting on the rocks.
Have you tested the water parameters?

Are those coral photos before or after the bleaching event?

I've had that green dusting since month 1 and it wont scrub off lol its perma

I mean people recommend a year before getting a nem. Only for the tank to stabilize out. But iv done it sooner as well. Could something have gotton in the tank somehow? Stray electrical current?

I dont think so but how would I test that? Besides putting a meter in lol would wouldn't work... and people r crazy recommending a year, I've also seen people recommend a year of cycling too completely ridiculous

You put one end of the probe in the water and one end in the ground is the outlet.

We’re the zoas stretching on top of the rock? Were they browning?

My guess is you have less than 80 par in the sand and 300 or so at the top. That should have been enough for the nem and zoas mid tank and enough to bleach a Lepto there.

Is there a way to counter this? Also I have a glass lid in top.

As far as the low light it wood be to turn them up. Most do it slowly (with or without a meter) and watch the coral. You kinda have issue that prevent that.
Glass cuts very very little light.

#reefsquad if it’s not an odd chemistry thing , do nems fade (appearantly bleach )without enough light?

Are you saying that glass Cuts little light as in it's not going to affect how much light is at the bottom very much?
