This is where my readings are now and have been for a while/
I dose one capful of small purple up bottle per day and dose kalkwasser
(about 3ml per night and about 3 ml Kent magnesium each day.

If I keep these levels where they are could there be problems? I have :

-14 gallon biocube(probably about 12 gallons considering rock work)
-one 10 inch diamter red monitors
-one 5 inch diameter green Pagoda cup
-one lobophyllia 3'' by 5''
-two small ten stalk colonies of sun coral
-two small candy cane heads
-one feather duster white hard shell variety
-six fuzzy neon shrooms
-one 3 1/2 inch tall green spa
- one 3 inch high green Montipora
-one two inch round neon green toadstool
-one pyjamas Cardinal
-one fireshrimp(one year old)
-one bumblebee shrimp
-two small blue shrooms
-two small green striped shrooms
-one inch and half round tiny rock with red Zias

Ph 7.7 at night 8.2 day
Temp 78(chiller controlled)
One gallon water change every seven days
-filter floss change every fourth day
-filter carbon changed every two weeks

No skimmer

I had light on high for three days and had to lower as bleaching began on Montipora but I corrected that immediately.

I'd stop the purple up, it has something in it that will skew your test results on calcium but won't actually dissolve in the tank, iirc.
Oh, and stop mag for now too, just Monitor the level. in a tank that size you should be able to keep it up with water changes

I'd also stop the purple up, but I doubt it is the cause of elevated Mg or Ca.

What magnesium kit? Many people get excessively high results with the Red Sea kit.

Calcium at 550 ppm is fine.

Oh hi sorry for the slow return reply,
The magnesium kit I'm using is Salifert.
Im concerned that relying on water changes for mag wont be enough for the corals.(Ill give it a try though and test)
Is there an alternative one part calcium additive which does not skew the positive ion exchange or am I going to need to get a two part calcium rigged up?

respectfully,
Les

Not sure what you mean about the positive ions getting skewed. You mean the negative ions chloride and sulfate?

It also does not sound as if you need any calcium at the moment. :)

Im reffering to the ionic balance and two part calcium additives like b-ionic

Ok im getting confused...
Im concerned about an eventual imbalance of excessive amounts of sodium chloride, so
would you recommend the balling method over what my calcium dosing method has been thus far?

B-ionic? It does not cause any imbalances. That is the beauty of it and similar commercial two parts. THe end result is EXACTLY the same as balling, just done differently.

Oh ok thanks. I have one last question :
If I were to continue dosing p******p along with kalkwasser and magnesium in the proper amounts will I end up with a higher concentration of sodium chloride?

I'm not sure exactly what all is in purple up, but no, that set of dosing will not boost sodium chloride noticeably.

Ok thanks for helping me out.
Eventually Im going to upgrade (two more dosing pumps) and then Ill use the B-ionic two part system.
Take care!
