175watt halide recommendations? 14k

Hey guys, my pops is trying to replace his bulbs in his unit and is looking for the 14k look. he has 2 x 175watt mogul (single ended) bulbs. anyone have any recommendations?

hamilton tech are my choice. a great bulb and ive never had a problem in the 27 tanks i run them in

the 12k reeflux. does it lean more towards blue or white?

its a crisp white/blue not yellowish like 10k

It's blue. It's even more blue then the 20k Reeflux, but I'm not sure those come in 175's.

Iwasaki 15k. High PAR values and nice crisp white with a hint of blue

i ran evc 14k. awsome color and they have par ratings higher as high as some 250w bulbs.

well i really appreciate all the advice guys! trying to choose a bulb is always such a tricky task without being able to see it lit up but i'm sure any of those options will work out great

Iwasaki is by far the best both in terms of PAR and longevity. Check out Sanjay Yoshi's measurements of it at Manhattan Reefs - Sanjay's Lighting Guide I'm running one on one side of my 135g now...very AWESOME light!

Iwasaki is nice for the crisp white as stated above.

I switched to the phoenix 175 14k and am very pleased. It has a blue tint that gives some pop without actinic supplementation and the corals seem to be responding and growing well. It has great PAR readings as well from what I have read.
