I'm upgrading my tank and I want to upgrade my tweezers/tongs. Anyone got recommendations on rust-proof 18" tweezers? Not just stainless steel, the kind that are coated so they can't rust at all. I have a 12-inch pair, and I'd like a longer set in hopes of not having to stick my hand into the water to access things on the sandbed.

its the quality of the stainless not the really coating

Right, but on a practical side of things the less iron in the stainless the stiffness increases, making it a bit difficult to use. Plus on the higher end of things, do you really want to spend a bunch of money on tongs? That’s why they powder coat them. And make them in china and sell them on Amazon

I'd prefer powder-coated ones, because I am guaranteed to leave these things wet, and even stainless steel tends to rust when you leave saltwater on it. Surface rust is fine, but I feel like it'll chip or something eventually.

And, yes, I'd rather not spend a bunch of money on tongs. Much rather spend it on corals.

Got the maxscpect carbon fiber tweezers, but find myself reaching for my rusted metal ones just cuz they have a lot more strength and gripping power to them. Wonder if you can find "plastidipped" tweezers? :D

Did someone just ask for Rust-proof 18in Tweezers?

We just announced the new 18in Never-Rust tweezers

Do those even count as 18" tweezers? I mean only half of it is even useable since you grip it in the middle.

If you just want to move small frags around carbon fiber ones are alright.

Go get real metal tweezers and a can of "tool handle dip coating"

They 18in Never-Rust Tweezer has a 14in+ reach, if you hold them at the grip point. That's actually better then most long tweezers.

Most metal tweezers have their grip point positioned about 3 to 6 inches from the hinge point at the top. For example, here is our 18in Tweezer next to a 15in metal epoxy-coated tweezer

Their grip point is right about the same distance on our 18in tweezer as it is on this typically designed 15in tweezer. A typical 20in metal tweezer will have its grip point positioned about 5 to 6 inches from the top hinge, giving them a 14-15in reach, at best. Plus - the metal tweezers will always, eventually rust. These will never rust, as there is no metal parts on them at all.
