18" wide peninsula FOWLR = bad?

I'm setting up a 60 gallon breeder, it will be a bare bottom FOWLR. It's 18" wide.

Will making this a peninsula freak out the fish (too narrow)?

Any experiences or thoughts?

I'm setting up a 60 gallon breeder, it will be a bare bottom FOWLR. It's 18" wide.

I have the option of going with a standard or a peninsula configuration.

The plumbing would be easier if I go peninsula (thought could still do standard with same plumbing configuration), and I kind of prefer the peninsula just for ease of getting around the tank and sump, but is that going to freak the fish out? I see no reason to worry much about aquascaping since it is strictly going to be a FOWLR.

Any experiences or thoughts?

I don't have a lot of experience, but I think a peninsula could look really nice! If you provide enough hiding spots and space on either side of the rocks, the fish could always hide in holes or on the opposite side of the rocks if startled or scared.

The fish will likely eventually become accustomed to the tank and will not be easily startled once comfortable and at home in the tank.

P.S. I almost bought a 60g breeder recently since the dimensions look so nice to me. I set up a 30g breeder on my desk at work and love how the lower height makes the tank look like a fuller community and wider panoramic view!

What fish do you hope to keep?
I doubt 18" would be too narrow for a peninsula unless you hope for fish that push or exceed the limitations of your tank or extremely limit the amount of rockwork.

@Soren I have a pair of bicolor angels. Hoping to get a starki (possibly a pair) and get them all to get along.

Midas blenny. Other various small fish are possible. The "big" ones are the bicolors and the hoped for starki(s).

I always tend towards a lot of rock work. I like the look of my pukani...

I'm far from "expert", but I think those fish would do fine in an 18" peninsula. The "small fish" may bolt after initial approach, but will likely re-emerge once they realize no real danger.

...and, agreed that Pukani rock has a very nice look!
