Hello all, I am currently planning out a 180 gallon reef tank stocking list. I have the must haves down already.

Must Haves -

x2-3 Maroon Clownfish (long story, but all 3 get along)
x1 Blue Tang
x1 Yellow Tang
x3 Lyretail Anthias
x10 Green Chromis
x1 Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish

Considering -

Niger Trigger
Sailfin Tang
Quoyi Parrotfish
Purple Tang

Not interested in -

Gobies
Small Wrasses

I would be worried about a niger trigger. They are mean guys.

The tank i think might be a little small for a Quoyi Parrotfish. But if you want to try I'll be interested in seeing how it does.

Lyretail anthias I have mixed emotions. Sometimes people can keep three fine (the male will chase the females) .other times yoully get 6 and eventually you'll get down to one. They are great fish just a bit of a pain. Everything else will go great

Thanks for the advice! I’ve heard the same with chromis as well that they will slowly pick each other off...

I’ve heard the quoyi might eat SPS corals and the such, but I don’t know to how true this is.

I highly doubt any trigger would be a match for my 3-4 inch maroon female haha

I've had more success with chromis, and i never had a group of anthias, i only ever kept one, but the general consensus is that anthias groups don't last.

As for the trigger they are the only fish that had tried to bite me, and it's the one type of fish i have no interest in keeping.

I think I’ve disregarded the trigger as I heard they can be quite the jerk to lionfish and their delicate fins. I’ve also pretty much given up on the parrotfish due to mixed reviews on whether it eats SPS corals or not. I will most likely be going with either a sailfin tang or a purple tang. Most likely purple due to it’s smaller size.

Please let me know of any other interesting fish I could put in a 180 gallon!

I'm pretty keen on the Marine Betta. Striking looking fish when you see one in person.
