As time keeps ticking by it shows me how patience is working towards better reef keeping. While at times I need to step away and let the tank and its inhabitants do their thing the geek-ness (lol) in me kicks in and I need to tinker.
At other times it’s a different story. Like this past December I had to repipe the lines that led to the sump and that are connected to the bulk valves. Making a long story short………. Fish goes over the corner over flow, fish gets stuck in bulk head valve, new piping cut, new bulk head hence the repiping lol! Didn’t just happen once same fish slipped over the other side too!!! As of this post i now have a yellow coris wrasse living in the right corner overflow.

My over flows have two cut outs for returns. I think my tank was built some time round 2014. The over flows in those days reflected what was best then. Nowadays I love the over flows like in the Red Sea tanks.
In my tank, in each corner overflow are two cut outs. One is for the currently used as the returns for each side. The other cut out is an open door for fish to swim right over to the east or west wing.
It’s the one I left alone that the clown fish slipped thru. He did it twice! Now I rigged those two cut outs with spare parts from old power heads but really need to address this situation. If you guys know where I might find parts that can let water go thru but not fish and snails that would be greatly appreciated.

So now we are at 2019
Things have been growing really well. I noticed that some species of coral are more aggressive than others. I have two lepto’s a Jack O’ Lantern and a green one. The green one has grown and competed against the Jack O’ Lantern and the green one is winning.

I have a superman monti from ages ago that died and came back, died and came back now its big and grew over an unknown sps where you can only see the tip. just behind this monti I have a PC rainbow which is growing nicely and it so far looks like its holding its own against the monti.

I glued my bubblegum chalice close enough to a mystic monti and it clearly is not winning against the monti.

So now I need to decide, do I let things remain or do I intervene and save those guys. I don’t have much time left. What would you guys advise?
