Hello, just need some feedback in regards on what should be the height of the stand pipe located in both of my weird in my 180 gallon Glasscages rimless tank. I picked up this unit used and I needed to install new plumbing. Each weir has a 1.50 inch drain pipe and 1 inch supply line. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Trying to button up this system to get it filled and cycled.

If your going full siphon then the lower the better. If your gonna do a durso style drain then you want it a few inches below the water line

Unfortunately I can't fit a duorso in the weir between the 1.5 inch drain and 1 supply there is no room for a 1.5 inch duorso. I was looking in using a maggie muffler to silence the drain sound.

If it were me I would work towards a full siphon drain.

What about leaving one standpipe short for the full siphon and in the other overflow, you use a taller standpipe for emergency. Giving you a herbie drain over the combined overflows.

thanks for the Bat Signal @Jekyl

return looks good. Maybe remove a tooth on the weir for the returns. Someone mentioned a durso for the drains, perfect suggestion. Maggie Muffler is an alternative to the Durso

Let me know if you wanna chat.

Hi Joe. Thanks, yes I did remove 2 tabs from the black plastic weir cover to allow room for the return line. Looks like I will cut the stand pipe a few inches bellow the weir to allow good flow to my lifereef sump and not over flood it.

I’m also looking for a Maggie muffler but they don’t answer their email :(

I ended making a couple silencers kinda like the ones from lifereef. Basically they are just a larger diameter pvc pipe just a bit higher than the drain pipe with a cap on it and drill a hole on the cap for venting and on the bottom of the pipe you cut slits to allow water to flow up between the stand pipe and the silencer. I cut mine bellow the weir and painted them black.
