So, I've had a freshwater tank for 8 years now, just started (last May) a saltwater 36 gallon reef. Now, of course, I want a bigger tank. But when you graduate from college you're pretty broke.

I'm trying to strategize my next upgrade. I'm thinking of going from my 36 to a 180. It will really open up my options. I just have a few questions.

1. I found a used 180 with a stand for $400. Is that a good deal? I might try to haggle to $300.

2. Should I get it knowing it won't be used for a little while?

3. Is slowly gathering the pieces an appropriate strategy if I'm low on funds?

Thanks guys.

That's true. I'm just trying to see if slowly getting those pieces is a good thing. Also I'll probably need to clean it pretty deep with vinegar

Haggle!!!! Saves money for other toys! I built my collection of cool saltwater toys over time. There is nothing wrong with doing that. Though at times you want to give into buying everything so you can get up and running faster.
