I am looking for help stocking my sps dominant 180. I definitely would like a pair of gold strip maroon clowns and I am thinking of the following and would like your opinion

Powder blue tang
Yellow or Kole tang
And a Wrasse of some kind

My obvious concern is the two tangs. Would they work together and with the Maroon clowns???

Any other suggestions and opinions are welcome.

Thanks

You have to add both Tangs at the same time so you don't have to worry about territorial issues between both Tangs. And the Maroon Clownfish be just fine.;)

Two tangs one being a powder blue would be tough. They're often evil.

You'll also need to have impeccable qt procedures and always quarantine and treat every single fish that ever goes in for ich because 95% of Acanthurus genus tangs cannot be managed with ich or any other parasite present

Thanks a PBT has always been one of my dream fish and now that have a 180 I really want to try one. Completely understand the QT and potential for ich. Is there a difference between adding a yellow or Kole tang. I figure the PBT will run the tank so wanted the other tang to able to handle the aggression of the PBT.

Yellows are known to get aggressive while Koles are often nicer and have a huge personality. I have a purple in my 110, and a kole in QT. I think you will be fine with a PBT and a kole or tomini. You can try a yellow of course, just keep an eye on the tangs. The maroons are also known to be mean so they will be able to hold their own.

Great so the order I was thinking was clowns wrasse then tangs

Powder blue have reputation as being prone to ick.
Personally I stay away from them. I have even had dealers treat with copper and quarantine in separate tank , without the best results. So Zebrasoma tangs seem much tougher to me.

IME when adding a new fish I first feed the DT. Then after acclimating the new fish I add it at lights out. This seems to reduce territorial issues.

In your size tank you should be fine. Depending on which wrasse you want you may want to add it first, then kole or yellow tang, then maroons and finally powder blue.

If you want other fish though, most of them should be added before the maron clowns.
