I am in the process of building a 180. I am resealing it at the moment.

Currently there are two 1 1/2" holes drilled in the upper corners that I am planning on using as the returns with 3/4" bulkheads. I do have a large Eclipse overflow box that is rated for 1000 gph.

Will that overflow be enough or should I put in a second?

I think the Eclipse will probably work though, IME, will likely make a good bit of noise at high flow. Because the external box is quite a bit lower than the internal box, there is significant waterfall noise produced, unless kept at rather low flow. I recently used an Exotic Marine Systems overflow on my new build and it is absolutely silent! They have the internal and external boxes at the same level and no matter how high I turn the flow up, there is no splashing or waterfall noise.

I think Modular Marine does the same thing.
