If the ability is there to jump to a 210g instead of doing 180g aquarium
Would you just go with the 210

Working in planning upgrade from my 120g mixed reef

i don't see why not.. that's like 15% more space for fish and corals. Don't think there will be much of difference in equipment.

Not much difference if we’re talking about standard sizes. 210 being a little taller. Just had a custom 210 built. 72x24x28tall. They’re a little more challenging to work on because of the height, but I favor the look of a taller tank. Some people don’t like anything over 24 inches. Some say 20 inches tall is max they’d go. It’s all personal preference. I’ve had a tallish tank before, so I knew what I was getting into. Step ladders, Wet armpits and all. Lol.:D I’d go for the 210!!!

My lfs was saying it was going to stay 24 in tall and instead come out 30 inches....

using the same footprint, You might as well go with the extra volume of a 210

The 210 is a taller 180 right? I like the added height as long as it isn't crazy out of proportion (Like some of the larger XHs). I would always recommend customers go as big as they can afford to or that will fit in their given space. B/c it helps save them from buying a bigger system (unless of course they just wanted a good excuse to buy another system and keep both running!). But that was 15 years ago.

Yep. I think the 180 has better proportions, though the bigger “window” is nice and the proportions are still pretty good. I’m about to build a 220 over a 180 sump/zoa display, but want to minimize the amount of space used for equipment.
