So as of now I have a 20g tank with a clown, cardinal, and a watchman goby. I’ve been looking at beginner corals and like gsp but I’m a bit afraid of it taking over my tank. I plan on isolating it a small rock but was wondering how far apart should I keep it away from other rocks and the tank glass? Thanks.

You won't have a problem with the glass. I grow it on the glass on purpose! It's very easy to remove from the glass and comes off in a beautiful sheet that is easy to glue to a plug and sell or give away. I would distance it 1"-2" from any rocks you don't want it on, the GSP will kinda form a floating mat edge after it outgrows whatever island you have it on so just keep an eye out for that and trim it if you see one appearing or if the rock it's on becomes entirely encrusted.
