Well cleaned tank had it all set up for a 7-10 out of town trip to Disney world……. Got home last night 11pm beep beep beep beep….. hummm what’s that open it up temp 68f. One of my 600w heaters went out we had 4 days of snow so home got cold ink bird went E5 turned off power to heaters they ran to long lost a few fish and corals so sad now after reading all the other D days I’ll be ordering a few more heaters as back ups when I go out of town
Heater was under warranty new one is on its way…. So mad I’m just happy I didn’t buy any coral when I was down there I wouldn’t have a safe place for them

Follow the basic heater rules: good/reliable controller, multiple smaller heaters with their own thermostats none of which are strong enough to boil your tank if both the controller or heater stick on.

For me, that is Ranco (or medusa if you can find one still) and 5x 300w Eheims. Never once heard of a ranco failing on and only a few actual ranco failures in the millions of industrial applications. No one Eheim can overheat my tank... and they are pretty good for heaters all of which seem to fail from time to time.

Inkbird is not reliable enough for me. I don' want heaters more than 300w anymore either.

Sorry to hear about your tank. I've had a BRS titanium heater fail as well. Currently I run a Ranco controller powering two BRS titaniums and also a separate controller and heater system. I don't trust heaters.
