Pretty good for your first shots! In case you haven't done so already, if the autofocus is not working, be sure to move the selection switch to manual so that you aren't fighting the gears. Also, I assume that you are using one of the higher-end Nikons with the built-in motor? None of the older autofocus lenses will autofocus with the bodies without a motor.

yeah the lines is on Manual.. and i wish it was a high end nikon.. its only a D3100 but i aint complaining..

the previous owner stated that the AF isnt working and i dont know anyone with a high end body to test it...

Hey Kevan. The reason the AF isn't working is because the d3100 does not have a built in AF motor. You will need to buy lenses that are labeled "AF-S" This means the lens itself has its own motor for AF. Hope this helps. Nikon makes three different AF-S macro/Micro lenses. I'm sire there are other brands, but i prefer Nikon. You have a few options:

1. Nikon 40 mm f/2.8G AF-S DX Micro-Nikkor Lens 2200 B&H Photo
2. Nikon AF-S Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED Macro Autofocus 2177 B&H
3. Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Lens 2160 B&H Photo Video

yeah i knew my body wont work the AF.. but the seller also stated that the AF isnt working thats why i got it soo cheap..

eventually when i pay off the camera i'll but the 105mm but in the mean time i got this cheap one.

Cool! You should still be able too get some stellar images with that lens though. Keep shooting and post some more pics. Are you using a tripod?

nah did some quick freehand ones yesterday to try the lens.. got a tripod tho..

Nice pictures. I can't wait till I purchase my macro lens for my Nikon D60.

My only problem is, I can't stop buying new corals for my tank.
