I am future planning for a 15 gallon reef aquarium. My stocking list is as follows:
1 hi fin red banded goby

1 red banded snapping shrimp
1 cleaner shrimp
1 fire shrimp
5 mexican red legged hermit crabs
3 turban snails
1 porcelain crab

1 frogspawn
1 birdsnest coral
1 red sea pompom xenia
1 taro tree coral
(trying to avoid zoas and palys because palytoxins terrify me lol)

This will be my first experience keeping corals so does anyone know if these corals will work well together and could I possibly keep a maxi mini carpet anem in this tank? The lighting I plan on using is a Coralife Aqualight Dual Linear Strip T5 with an Ocean Free Protein Skimmer Nano and a small HOB.

Stocking list looks good. I’d be caustious about the pistol shrimp, they are territorial, and with so many inverts in such small space it can be an issue . Rest looks good, keep the Xenia isolated

Good luck with the build! It looks good

I’ll add the pistol shrimp and goby after the other inverts are all established to try to keep things peaceful as much as I can because I would love to see the goby/pistol shrimp symbiosis going on. I would have put that combo in my current 45 gallon, but it’s most likely maxed out on bioload and with my valentini who only just recently became accepting of my cleaner and fire shrimp who were there way before him, I wouldn’t want to risk that. Thank you for the tips.

Been here for a while, but this is my first try with a reef tank.

It sounds like a nice tank build and just remember we NEED pictures! Lol

Also as said already, I think anything with Xenia in the name can spread like crazy. It’s a very beautiful coral, but very invasive so think carefully before you add it and read up about it.

And enjoy the build

Will absolutely post update pics when I start putting it together. May be a couple of months though.

UPDATE: The equipment for the tank is arriving tomorrow and I am currently turning a HOB for a 70 gallon into a small refugium. I have been going back and forth between frogspawn, hammer coral, and bubble coral for the lps and I have been debating on replacing the goby and snapping shrimp on the stocking list with a false perc clown with a fancy morph and a sally lightfoot crab. Anyone more experienced than I am have any suggestions?

Cool idea with the HOB. All three of those LPS are cool. I really like hammers, especially if they have nice green color. I can't be of much help as far as stocking goes. Glad to hear you're about to get started!

Tank is finally beginning to cycle. I’m seeing diatoms beginning to grow on the rocks and glass. Hopefully this doesn’t kill the soft coralline algae on my lr lol. I ended up going with a diy HOB from an AC 70 to fill the roll of filtration and a refugium filled with ulva lettuce, filter floss, and I will add carbon once the first fish and corals go in. The lighting I’m using is a Hipargero Aqua Knight A029. Will get a nano skimmer if needed, but I have been told that in a nano reef a skimmer isn’t really 100% required since weekly water changes will most likely take out the nutrients that a skimmer would and I’m only going to be keeping 1 or 2 fish in it anyways.
