Under The Sea Hello GIF by Lillee Jean

Hello!
And welcome to the wonderful money pit wonderland of the seas!
Glad to have you with us!

I’m so happy for you that you’ll never have enough spare money to afford a drug addiction.

Also new to running a 75 gallon money pit are you running a sump for filtration/heating/life support /etc?

I am going to be running a penn plax max flo filter to start out..I have no trust in our utility company in order to run a sump without flooding the basement.
The heater is a Ehiem Jagger 300 watt.
.The lights are cheap but all I can afford at the moment. They are orbit lights but are programmable and can be interfaced with a wave maker.
I am using Carib Sea Argonite Special mixed with live sand.
I bought a 50 gal daily rodi filter
Anything can be changed in the future but this up should suffice for starters

Well I finally put water in the tank..It's taken 1 month exactly to get to this point. The lights should be here tomorrow.
I guess now the fun begins? Pictures will follow

Ok I am back..After a 8 day stay in the hospital for acute pancreatitis I finally g back home.. I managed to get some live sand and water in the tank before i got sick..The lights were here and it took a few days to get on and running plus I had to add some water due to evaporation while I was gone..

My question is did the tank start cycling when I pit the water in or when I turned the lights on?

Pancreatitis sucks—take care! Cycle started when you added the seawater. The lights only help algae and diatoms grow, so many advise leaving the lights off or minimally on while cycling

Glad you are doing better! I had a stay in hospital for acute pancreatitis caused by an ERCP. Worst pain I’ve ever had and I know pain, coming up on 33 years of marriage ( my wife would say the same, ha)! Best of luck with your build, following.
