I spent 1 year traveling for work. I left my wife in charge of taking care of my tank knowing she had zero knowledge of how delicate our hobby is. Needless to say all my fish died and about 60% of my coral. In no way am i blaming my wife. We just had our first baby and she had to take care of everything by herself. Im still in the process of cleaning out hair algae, removing dead coral, doing large water changes, and all the other things to bring back my neglected tank. Tonight i shined a light in the tank a few hours after the lights had been off to see how bad of a bristle worm problem i had and got a pleasant surprise. Some how my pom pom crab made it. He was a sight for sore eyes.

Welcome to R2R and welcome back to your tank. Kind of know the feeling, when I used to be on the road. I would get back from a trip just to see what was alive.

Welcome! Good news is that you have a tank that holds water and the equipment to run a beautiful reef! Great to see you have survivors!

Yup. +1 on both of those.

@aj741986 we should look at how to keep it easy ideas. I know I had to.

I always get a kick out of these pom-pom crabs, the cheerleaders of the reef tank :p Good luck with the tank, I hope it bounces back sooner rather than later and better than before. Welcome to the community, officially. No more creeping. o_O:):D:p

I ran a fish only live rock system for that reason. My clowns got so aggressive that they would eat any think if the were not feed on time by my neighbor. I also moved that tank three times to two different states New York, Massachusetts, then Florida. Gave up the clowns for Mass to FL, they could not make on a moving van for 5 days, but everything else made it;):D
