In the planning stages for the a IM 50 AIO Lagoon. It’s 30”X18”X16”. Already have one prime thinking two total will be enough light for mixed reef. Mostly LPS some SPS in the middle higher up under the lights. Would this be enough light or is there better options?

2 would definitely do fine for lps and some easier sps i.e birdsnest and whatever

You would need 2 for the length of the tank. Since you have one already I would just get a second.

One prime hd barely lights a 14 gallon IM. I have the whites pretty high with a color temp around 15k. The blues are maxed as well as about 80% on the UV. I barely get 250 par 2 inches under water. With the light 13 inches off the surface. You are going to have to raise them higher than that if you want them to blend without shadowing and give you full coverage.

I have both a IM10 and a IM 20P(13" deep). The IM 10 has 1 prime over it and the IM 20P has 2. I run BRSs AB+ spectrum on them (uses 32 watts per light). I can grow SPS in the top 5-6" of the tank(including Acros) and lower light SPS(montis, etc) down at the bottom. I also have a IM 50 AIO lagoon that I put 2 Radion XR15 Blues on (set at 60% intensity) that I can grow lower light acros on the bottom. That said I think 2 primes could work for SPS(like Acros) if the SPS were with the top 5-6 inches pretty much right under the light and within a 7-8" circle of the center of the puck. You could always add a light bar later on for more par.

I don’t mind buying new lights means I can keep this pico up and add new lights.

Was also looking at the ReefBreeders photon 24 V2+ but not sure not very good review on BRS as far as spread
That's what I wanted for mine but nobody had them in stock for over 8 months when I set up my IM 50 Lagoon(height of covid). They are good lights and you won't get anywhere near the shadowing you will with the primes(or the radions that I have for that matter). With one of ReefBreeders light strips(they have a UV one) i think it would have been perfect for me, but it didn't happen( and I've have saved about $500.00 to buy coral with).

It’s a great light, it likes to be hung a little higher than most lights. But if you use the little legs that came with it to mount it, it will be too low and your review will be the next bad review.

That is what BRS said as well. If I remember correctly,13" above the water is what they recommend.

I’m putting the 24 over my lagoon 25. I need to get off my tail and build the stand.

I’m not in any hurry right now. Have a few trips in July for work but once I’m back on campus and in my shop I’m going to start cutting Aluminum. I teach welding at a high school so going to build the stand out of 1.5” aluminum square tubing. Then put a wood veneer over it to cover the frame (so the wife doesn’t complain).
