Hey guys. New here hence the sponge username. I want to soak up all the info i can.
Just finished a 3 month setup cycle on 13.5 gal aquarium.
All water parameters are good.
Have a 6 gallon QT tank which i have filled peridoically from DIsplay tank.
Made my first fish purchase the other day. A pair of Wyoming White clowns. Did notice one was more sluggish than the other but assumed it was simply personality as everything else visibly checked out.
Did drip acclimation as advised from research.
Did not attempt to feed until day 2.
Both ate. One was a timid eater.
Immediately did parameter tests and all checked out.
Same night i feed again and the sluggish none eating one didnt eat at all.
Now we are at day 5. The sluggish one still hasnt eaten and has white stringy poop coming out of it and is mouthbreathing fast. The one that was acting okay has started timidly eating and i notice some mouth breathing but not fast. BOTH have pinched stomachs. Checked perameters and all is good. I did research and decided to go with treating with API Gen cure. It has been in tank for 3 hours.
Oh yeah salinity is 1.025
Myquestion is:
A. Chances of survival?
B. Should i try anything further?

Without pics and video under white lighting, it will be hard to do an assessment
Sounds like possible dominance and aggression but a wild guess without pics

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

As mentioned, a short video taken under white light is helpful.
Did these two clownfish come from the same tank at the store?
Do you see any torn fins?
Can you dose with copper (i.e., they are in a true quarantine tank?)

Yes same tank they were sold as a pair.
Will take some vids when i get home this evening.
Yes can do copper.
No torn fins or white spots i checked them closely for that at store.
Gills seem slightly swollen too i forgot to mention that.

Thanks for any and all advice Jay!

Just tried to feed a small chunk of Mysis, and the none eater nibbled. Thats improvement right? The one that was starting to eat less, ate about the same.

I tried to get really close bc theyre tiny guys so i hope i get a clear enough shot.

Well, they aren’t breathing too fast. What does the ammonia test at, and what type of test kit is being used?

API kit
All my tests are:
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-7
Ammomia-0
1.025 salinity

The mouthbreathing was probably close to twice as fast yesterday i forgot to mention.

API tests for ammonia seem to have major issues. Can you take a sample to a store and have them test with a better kit?

Also, the water in the video has a lot of particles in it - do you have a good filter on the tank to remove those?

Yes in the QT it is filtering at 114gph
Thats shrimp i had just put in a chunk.
I took it to store day of purchase and they said we were all good. I should call and see if they use API too.
