2 faced zoa?

So today I noticed that I had a zoa with an exact 50/50 split of the 2 zoas that are close to each other. Has anyone ever seen or heard of this, or is this some crazy phenomenon happening in my tank?

That one zoa trying to play nice with both sides of the turf war lol. I haven’t seen this myself. I’ll follow along to see if any have!

I have searched threads, the Internet, and asked some friends, so far nothing. That would be cool if a unicorn zoa was born in my tank ha ha.

Lots of zoa addicts err.. experts here. We don’t get any answer by tomorrow we start tagging them.

I'm in no way a zoa expert but I do know they can morph to a different color. I've seen pictures where zoas change colors but I've never seen one that only half changed, if that's what's even happening.
The biggest expert I know of on zoas on here is @footgal , hopefully she has some idea.

Hey! So I’ve seen something similar to this before Link. In this case, it ended up being that the zoa was morphing to darker colors due to a change in lighting and it just did it in a funky way.

here’s a PALY that appears to have naturally grafted itself. I can’t find a zoa that has done anything similar Link

there are several (very old) threads talking about “pigment transfers” between zoas and GFP infections making zoas turn green. This may be a pigment transfer scenario, we’ll have to wait for babies to see for sure. GFP link Pigment transfer link
