2$ mystery fish

Hello all,

This is my first post and I'm relatively new to the hobby, this fish was sold to me by a store where the fish's first owner dropped him off, so the store owner sold him to me for two dollars. A great fish about 1.75- 2 inches. But anyways thanks in advance

Great until you add another fish and that little guy tears into it. That is a damsel. Very aggressive. Not for sure but looks like a Talbots damsel.

Yes, unfortunately, I lost two frags to it, I'm doing 30% water changes every three days for now.

Enlighten me on what else creates air bubbles and strings together on rock. Maybe I'm mistaken...

Strings? I see GHA and Cyano. It’s possible that they’re Dino’s but I haven’t looked at his samples under a microscope.

Welcome to r2r! That looks like a damsel for sure but I am having trouble with a species Identification. Perhaps it is a Talbots damsels but they have eye spots and this one doesn’t seem to. Perhaps it is a lemon damsel or another Pomacentrus species. But it could be a Neoglyphidodon species and those I think do get very aggressive. Can you provide a photo with less blue light? Maybe @eatbreakfast can help

Looks like a Neoglyphidodon melas, or bowtie damsel. They get big, dark, and mean.
