I ordered 1 clownfish because i only had one in my tank. Well i mistakenly got two delivered to my house. They are in quarantine now and are fighting a lot. They are both 3-4 cm. Did I get 2 females?

until you find new home for one of those, you might section off tank using egg crate or something to separate them if you don't have an acclimation box or other way to divide them up in quarantine tank

I love clownfish, and I think they are very cute... but I know they are very mean and territorial - it is how they determine who gets to be female etc... My boyfriend made me give up my clown's anemone's recently, so I did a package deal with my breeding clowns... I miss them, the egg laying every 2 weeks or quicker hatchings always was a conversation item when people came over, but I don't miss getting bit HARD every tank cleaning (and dove at 2x daily for feeding - even going air born to try and bite me)

GOOD LUCK!!

So this Will be a fight to death?
I Got a glass thing to seperate Them so i Will do that!

I would suggest taking one to your local lfs and exchange it for a smaller one (male). I started out with the same size clowns but after a month of peaceful cohabitation on decided to become a killer. Replaced the victim with a significantly different size and they have got along swimmingly (pun intended) for 10 months now.

Here is the basic run down....

Clowns are born male, if left in a group the most dominant one will become female, the others will stay male. If they are separated and live alone they will turn female. They only go male to female once, they don't change back. Two females will not live together.

If you want a pair of clowns the most successful method is to get two young fish from a group (males), but be sure one is larger than the other. This will normally establish clear dominance and reduce fighting to find the winner. Otherwise, you can pair a young male with an older established female, but sometimes she will not accept him and kill him off.

In a home aquarium, a pair of clowns is really the only sustainable option. Three is likely a death sentence for at least one of them. Larger groups will spread aggression and may work out longer that small groups, but in the end, a pair is what is usually left.

you have 3, not 2, thats why they fighting , they eliminating the weakest one and the 2 remaining will pair up
^^THIS!
The 2 new ones are fighting over who gets to be friends with your existing fish.
Pick the 2 you like best and re-home the other.

Uh, the 2 females are in QT and his other clown is in his DT. The blind date hasn't even found the dating app yet.

Edit - my bad, there are 3 clowns in a small tank so even worse for fighting its like getting caught with your side sugar.

There are three clowns in the video. I would try to make a separate section for that YWG too. I believe it hovering in the water column where it is indicates a lot of stress. Maybe put in a section of PVC for it.

Ha, I missed that, 3 total! 2+1=3. Sometimes I wish my parents didn’t send me to public school. Your advice makes more sense in this scenario.

my small clown is very og, and the first fish I got so I want that one. I separated them into Two sections, and the big one is not hurting my small one. I think I will sell the other orange storm clown
