I've never used EcoTechs products but I have been considering getting an MP40 for a while now. That is an important piece of information to know. How can you tell the difference between warranty replacements and brand new from a store?Just a heads up... You might want to either (A) reconsider your price, or (B) reconsider the part about "No trades or low offers..." The reason I say this is because you received these power heads as replacements for units that went bad, directly from EcoTech. In their system they will have these powerheads serial numbers on record as being used to replace ones that already went bad. What this means is that anyone that purchases these from you, won't be able to make any type of warranty claim with EcoTech if anything goes wrong with them. They're essentially taking a shot in the dark, that nothing will be wrong with them out of the box, and that they'll work long enough to get their $350 worth out of them.
Honestly, you as the consumer can't tell. At least not if you're buying them second-hand. If you're buying them from a retailer, I would certainly hope they're brand new, and if not, that the retailer would disclose that they're selling a used product.I've never used EcoTechs products but I have been considering getting an MP40 for a while now. Then how did you know these are replacements? Did the OP have a previous thread about having problems and getting replacements that you saw? I was just curious if there was something with the packaging that gets changed to show its a replacement.Honestly, you as the consumer can't tell. At least not if you're buying them second-hand. If you're buying one second-hand, like most of those listed in spaces such as this one, you could always ask the seller for proof of purchase (i.e. a receipt). That only goes so far though, as most retailers don't list serial numbers on receipts for items of this nature. I'm not sure how open EcoTech is with disclosing information, but if you're buying a second-hand powerhead, you can ask the seller for the serial number, call EcoTech, and ask them to track the serial. Again, I'm not sure if they'll disclose the information; but it can't hurt to try.
Here's the actual post. This is just the discussion page for the item for sale. That link will take you to the item's actual classified page. Then how did you know these are replacements? You make an extremely good point about not having warranties on them which I wouldn't have thought to ask about, but is a big factor IMO.
Thanks. I had noticed changes made to the selling forums, and I noticed they now said this thread is for discussion, but I didnt realize there was a way to go to a seperate page for the item being sold. Here's the actual post. Yeah. It's only in the CLASSIFIEDS section. If you go to the actual SELLING section of the FORUMS, it's still the old way. And to click back and forth between the item for sale section and the discussion section, the links are at the top of the page in a white box. They're marked "Overview" and "Discussion".Thanks. Crap I'm getting old enough that I hate it when things change. Lol
