Is there a table or formula you can use to figure out how much AFR to dose if coming from a 2 part? Trying to simplify things And want to try and cut down to 1 doser and People have been raving about all for reef. I would rather the transition be gentle on the tank not just dose and see. Currently dose 8 ml a day Alk and 7.8 mil a day cal of reef fusion 1+2 for 65 gal volume and keeps parameters right at 8.3 Alk and 460 cal

Two parts vary in potency. What product?

I agree it is simpler to dose, but otherwise I can’t see a reason to rave about it
Currently using Seachem Reef Fusion part 1 &2 for Alk and cal and dose7.8 ml p1 and 8 ml p2 a day with 65 gal volume

I switched from kalk to all for reef. I do 10mL a day in a 40g. I maintain alk at 8.3-8.8 usually. Amazed at how stable my alk is compared to kalk.

That’s exactly what I was looking for! Thank you Scott
They have instructions. I forget what they are. But I tested alk everyday for a couple of weeks after starting. With kalk, I would go from 6 to 9 between weekly readings and got fed up with not knowing what to expect as I relied on ATO and evaporation. But what I like about all for reef is the inclusion of iodine and lots of trace elements. I don’t do water changes very often. Probably once every two months.

Tropic Marin has a dosing calculator on their product page as well... scroll down and click on dosing calculator.

I'm really interested in moving across to this but i need to work out if this is feasible.
Currently my 365l tank has 79ml of an alk (its a mix of 66g of bicarbonate of soda + 28g sodium carbonate per Litre of solution) per day.
Calcium 40 ml of a (188g per litre Calcium chloride)
these maintain levels.
The calculator above states 18ml for my tank size this provides 2mg of calcium?
My calculations which are hopefully not right....40ml of that solution is 7g per day.

so the recommended start does and even max dose does not meet my requirements - have i got that right?

Thanks

Well if it helps for me I have been using afr for a week or so now and I have been dosing 15 ml a day and it has kept my Alk at 8.6, my cal at 460ish and mag about 1410. I have a fully stocked mixed reef and a reefer 250 (250 l or 65 gallon). I was able to keep everything just about where it was when I had just 2 part going. Happy so far no spikes! Going to run me about 22.00 a month. Not thrilled with that but my tank is almost on auto pilot so besides carbon and water changes I don’t have to do much now a days.

You using the pre mixed

@Lou Ekus

Do you guys have clear cut instructions...

...telling us how much your alk will raise / per mls of "All for Reef" / to how many gallons your holding?

Seems like some guess (suggested starting dose) work is involved at this point.

or how how much the product increases alk (in mls) per every 100 liters?

Thanks!!

Honestly it was trial and error for me, I started off with a low dose twice daily, monitored for a few days. Added in small increments until I got where my salt mixes normally and it would maintain those levels for at least 1 week. I wouldn't rely on the calculator. It showed I needed to dose double of what I actually needed.

I've emailed Tropic Marin, with my current solutions etc and asked if they can suggest what they recommend/

They need to print the rise of dkh (of mls dosed) per every 100 liters, on the label.

Currently my 365l

Here's the max daily dose:

Do not exceed a maximum daily dose of 25 ml of All-For-Reef per 100 liters (26 US-gal) of aquarium system volume.

On that - is it possible? If Bacteria change the calcium formate to carbonates - what if your tank does not have the right bacteria? or is carbonates a normal by-product of all bacteria growth etc

Thanks but I don't know how much calcium and all that would raise my tank by? Lou mentioned in one video that 1 tank which looks great is being overdosed by 3x.....
but that makes it very expensive way to do it. If I can meet my tanks needs in a single solution and be comparable in price to what I have now Id rather try the All for Reef

Yeah,
It is super expensive when using on a large reef.

I think the DIY, mix your self version / bundle pack / saves about $30

lol
I'm going to turn off my Apex's switch to my cal reactor.

Test this stuff, to see if will stable out on a fairly large body of water.
Might be a headache to keep all of the big 3, inline.

Here is a great article on 2 part dosing.. helped me out..

I'm using the Carbo Calcium powder (the same alk-calcium component as AFR but without Mag or trace elements). I've only been using it for about 3 weeks, but a shade more than 26ml per day is keeping my Alk at 8.0 and Calcium at 470. I'm running it on a 120G DT and 40G sump.

I've had to stop dosing my DIY NOPOX because Calcium Formate also carbon doses the tank.
