Hi everyone I need to know if I need a sump I have two 55 gallon hang on the back filter and two power heads.. is the good enough or do I need to change up my flow....

2 55 gallon HOB filters??? Most sumps are not 55 gallons. How big is your DT?

Drill baby drill. Add a sump. A 20 long with a couple baffles, heaters, skimmer, and if needed a reactor or two and with practice, you can keep any kind of coral you want. The breeder type tanks are a great footprint for a smaller tank.

I tried it all in a 75 gallon. I tried 2 HOB filters (each rated way above the tank volume). When that failed, I tried the Eheim pro 4 canister filter (lot of $$ for this),,, Both methods are horrible when it comes to nutrient export and I was constantly battling hair algae issues. Go with a sump!!!

Now, I put the canister filter on a 60 gallon freshwater (surprisingly, it's not bad for a freshwater setup)
The HOB (the marineland emperor) I use for a 20 gallon long,,, just for a quarantine tank (currently for some new corals).
