I have a 10 gallon freshwater tank right now which is running well right now but I really want to start a saltwater tank aswell. Is a 20 gallon long a good tank for a saltwater tank for someone who is starting out saltwater?

Well, I can say that the bigger the tank, up to a point, the easier because of the fact that more water=more stability. I would say a 40-60 would be good, but theres no reason a 20 wouldn't work

I would get a 40-60 but I just don’t have the space or money. Thanks for your help!

What kind of stuff are you hoping to keep? I have always liked the 20 gallon long because it gives a lot of surface area bang for your buck. I think it could work just fine for you as long as you have realistic expectations about what you can keep in it.

40 breeder isn't much bigger than a 20 long. Better to save and get what you want than buy all new later. Are you wanting fish only or a reef tank? What kind of budget are you looking at?

Absolutely. My first tank was a 20L with a HOB filter. It's still going strong today. It was a great first tank for me, but then again I only keep coral and invertebrates.
