Will a odyssea ps duel lamp be ok. It says 4000 lumen 2x 24w so, 48 watts. Comes with 1 10000k and 1 actinic 460nm. Would this be ok for my 20 long reef. Currently I only have some softies in there. Kenya tree, pulsing xenia, 4 different mushrooms and some clove polyps. Thanks guys.

I think it would work with exceptions... You're probably going to have to limit yourself to softies, maybe some LPS, very doubtful on SPS. I doubt you would lose any softies with this light, but your growth might be much slower compared to other lamps. You could use this light temporarily and upgrade to a 4 bulb T5 fixture: 96 watts, this would put you in the mid to high range on lighting.

Check out this link for the different spectrums of lighting, with the light you have you're in the low range: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/refinement_definition.cfm?rid=5

Great chart. Thank you. I guess on my 65 that I just built I'm in the low to mid range also. I have 4 39 watts t5ho fixture. Glad you sent me this.

Well, on your 65G, find the true volume. Tank volume, minus rock and sand. I have a 46G bow front with a 4 bulb 39watt HO T5 (156 watts total). Realistically it's only 35G of water which would give me a 4.5 watts per gallon, roughly so almost to the high end of the scale. So, if you have 65G, say its really only 55G, (guessing), with 156 watts total, you're around 2.8 watts per gallon so, you're mid range. Again this depends on how much rock you have and all that, i have a lot of rock in my bow front. Figure out your total volume and go from there. :D

Ok, cool. Well, I bought 45 gallons of pre mixed water and took roughly 25 gallons of my old tank water. I didn't use 15 gallons of the store bought so that gets me around 55 gallons. Thanks!!
