I need some advise on a tank I’m setting up. I ordered a 20 gallon long from petco and I was going to put it in our living room behind the couch. The only direct sunlight it will get is around 4-5 pm when the sun is going down. I also ordered a NICREW 30W reef light from amazon. I’m not planning on growing any corals. What kind of fish besides clownfish and gobies would thrive in a 20 gallon. I really like oddball inverts as well.

I currently have 2 clowns, a blue green Chromis, a purple fire fish, and a spotted mandarin goby in my 20 g. I also have 4 snails (2 trouchus and 2 bumblebee), a female emerald crab and 2 peppermint shrimp. I also have 13 corals and my buddy’s hammer coral I’m trying to save from his tank dying a few days ago. All is well, just add things slowly and make sure levels are consistent. I’d recommend fire fish, chromis, damsels (sometimes can be A holes) Cardinal bangai fish are really cool looking, can get lots of different gobies. The spotted mandarin usually needs copepods unless raised on frozen food but they’re some of the coolest looking and acting fish. Good luck and welcome to the hobby!

Thanks for responding! I was actually considering two Bangai Cardinals for the tank. I have a purple dottyback in one of my other tanks, I may or may not put him in the 20. He is a very aggressive feeder tho. I was thinking of putting an engineer gobie in it. Does your emerald crab ever bother your corals?

He cleans them up a good amount which does make them close up but I figure that’s what happens in nature so I don’t worry. They open back up ‍♂️
