Currently have a 20 gallon nano with a pair of clowns and a firefish. Looking to stock two more fish to finish my stocking in the next few weeks. Currently deciding between a pistol shrimp/goby pair (Most likely randal or red candy shrimp with a hi fin or yasha goby), or a bottom-dwelling fish like a jawfish or blenny or different goby and a non-bottom-dwelling like a wrasse or basslet. What do you guys think would be better? A shrimp/goby pair would be really cool but mostly likely will create cave/tunnel systems on the sandbed and I might not even see them much. The other option allows me another fish our than my clowns that swims around the tank and doesn't hide in a hole sometimes like my firefish as well as a bottom-dweller. What nano fish would you recommend if I do choose the latter option?

x1 Firefish

x2 Ocellaris Clownfish

x1 Royal Gramma, Swissguard Basslet, or any of the Assessor Basslets- all 3”

x1 Pink Streak Wrasse or a Possum Wrasse (if you don’t want a bottom dwelling fish)- 2.5”

Thanks! Really considering a swiss guard but just reading the description of basslets on live aquaria and they are listed as semi-aggressive. Hopefully, it would eat pellets as well, I was a little worried my firefish would only eat meaty foods like mysis but its been eating the pellets I have for my clowns. Seems like they might hide as well. Also considering those wrasses. Guess I'll try the pistol shrimp/goby pair for my next tank.

Hmm just read that having a firefish with a basslet isn't a good idea

Oops, I apologize. Yeah, in a small tank that might be a concern though I’m not sure. Then a Pink Streak or Possum Wrasse, and a Pajama Cardinal would be fine. They’re both peaceful, but the Pajama Cardinal’s a slow fish.

How long did it take for your Firefish to eat pellets?

No problem! Firefish was added last Saturday. Fed him/her mysis on Sunday and pellets yesterday and it ate them lol. Fed a different brand of pellets today and it ate some as well. So basically instantly

I just got a cherub angel for my 20 gallon peninsula to accompany my clowns. Very cool fish and maxes out at 3”

Woah it looks so cool!
I love the little guy! He’s about 1” right now, eating anything but pellets (he eats crushed up pellets, I think they’re just too big for him), he sleeps on a little ledge every night and has been a dream. Absolutely no picking at/bothering my tiny maxima clam, zoas, sps, or softies! Also, only $20! Perfect addition IMO
