I want to add more height to this aquarium, while keeping the same rocks and keeping it stable. Does anyone have any ideas of ways I can kind of “lift up” the rocks along the back to create more height and that way those corals will also receive stronger light? I was thinking maybe placing those rocks on PVC crates or something? If anyone has done something similar or has any ideas please let me know, thank you! P.S. I know the tank isn’t looking the best right now, it’s a work in progress

Yes you can use pvc crate but in a tank that size it might be a bit hard to hide. You could also just use some live rock that’s thinner and create a platform like that which the pvc crate would make to lift the rock and eliminate dead zones at the same time. Tongan Figi branch and slab rocks work very well at accomplishing what it sounds like you want to do.

Another option over pvc is acrylic rods.

Not sure of the feasibility of this but could use egg crate as the support for the rods and how to get any corals on that rock slowly aclimated to the higher light.

Slide pieces of eggcrate under the sand. Lock into the squares the rods. Then over several weeks slide the rods into squares closer to the rock increasing its height. Admittedly never tried this. You will want a tripod of support for each rock. This can be a mixture of rods and existing rock structure.

I used Innovative Marines Snapgrid eggcrate. It’s inexpensive and comes with risers so you can adjust the height. They sell the risers separately as well if you need more. I superglued CaribSea rubblezone pieces around the outside of the risers to blend them in. It allows flow under your main rock structures and lifts the whole scape closer to the lights if that’s what you want.
