I have a 10 gallon with 1 damsel. I would like to have a pair of clowns and a dotty back. I know about aggression and was going to give the damsel . But otherwise does that work ?

Thanks for the advice . Could I do a goby instead of the dotty backA 20gal tank would be a little bit of a squeeze for a dottyback; they are often territorial and will get aggressive if others are in their space too much. It's possible, but would require that you get a dottyback that is more chill (something that is, obviously, hard to know ahead of time).
It might be possible to fit two clowns and the dottyback, but I would think you would want to get the clowns settled in and established before adding the dottyback. I would also suggest a lid for the tank if you don't already have one (at least for a while); the dottyback may chase the clowns up and out of the water if they don't get along.
Two clowns and a damsel would be fine; very common combo in a 20gal.
I really wanted an angel fish again but everyone said a 20 gallon is to small. Beautiful tank btwMy 15g nano has:
- 2 x clowns
- 1 flame angel
- 1 green mandarin
- 1 bi-colour Benny
- 1 coral banded shrimp
Also I have a return pump set at 2000L/H, 1 wave maker set at 2000L/H and another wave maker set at 1500L/H giving me tots water movement of 5500L/H (1400G/H)

I wanted to go with a Pygmy and a maroonWell he's a dwarf angel so if that helps for the smaller tanks. Even then as they continue to grow I may need to pull one fish out. Just see how they go.
That’s a good ideaI have a 20 gal as well. I have a pair of juvie clowns that have been in there for a few months now. Once they grow up a little bit im probably going to get a six line wrasse or maybe a yellow wrasse. I was considering the pygmy angel but i dont want to risk damage to my coral. I hear that once clowns are grown and established that they are pretty tough. I think they could stand their own but i guess every fish is different. I think the key is time. The more aggressive fish should be added down the line once the peaceful fish have settled in... Im also not dead set on a wrasse either though. I just hear they eat all the nasty little critters that find there way into our tanks so thats appealing to me!
