I have been watching the brstv 52 weeks of reefing and for a 20 gallon, they recommend 2 clowns, 1 firefish, 1 orchid dottyback, and a shrimp/goby pair. Im wondering if I could swap the dottyback for a royal gramma?

Yes that would be fine. You have a rather large selection of fish for a 20 gallon

I saw the video,
You got it mixed up. They did say 1 or 2 clowns, fire fish, goby/shrimp pair, and royal gramma.
30 gallon mentioned the dottyback.

I have a 20 gallon with pair of clowns, yellow watchman goby and royal gramma. I think 4 fish is the max. Remember these fish get bigger. Also firefish most likely will get bullied by the clowns and the gramma
