So a bit randomly I wound up with a 20 gallon tank, was one of those deals I couldn't really pass up I suppose. Was an Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion Pro, with a pair of Skye Light Clamp 18's for 225 usd. All new no less.
So the lights don't really have much function other than turning on and off. Not a huge deal I suppose there I don't believe, but it brought about a few questions I guess. So far as the lighting goes, since these are simply an on off situation and no real dimming or anything. My guess is long as I keep the lights on during the same time frame daily and keep that stable it shouldn't pose any problems right? Mean it might not be the most optimal situation but I figure it should do well enough I figure. Around how many hours a day should they be kept on in theory?
So thought is to do a little reef with it, probably mostly Zoas of various colors, some Frogspawn, and I might try to do something with some GSP could add a hammer who knows. Now my wonder is when it comes to cycling. If adding live rock and a some backup bacteria would it be a safe bet to start adding the residents? And which residents would be best to be added first? One part of my brain is thinking inverts, however the other parts saying well the little crawlers and cleaners wouldn't have enough to clean to keep them fed yet?
Residents of the aquarium, My thoughts a clownfish or two, a wrasse, maybe a goby then mostly little critters from there, Scarlet Hermit Crabs, some shrimp, maybe some other little crabs, Snails. Idea would be about 20 little critters. Probably not 20 to start with just a few then slowly growing from there.
