I have an AGA 20 gallon long that I'm currently using as a refugium. I purchased a coralife float valve kit and want to use it as an auto-topoff system gravity fed by a 5 gallon bucket. My question is, is this tank drillable on the back pane of glass? I think it is, but would rather ask a dumb question than end up with a broken tank.

It should be drillable. The trick is to use a glass cutting bit. They're encrusted with diamond to cut the glass, but are similar to hole saws for wood. Use lots and lots of water or oil to keep the area clear and cool so you don't get any expansion cracks. Lastly, go very slowly. Let the drill do the work for you. Don't put any weight into it, just that of the drill.

Patience, for sure. Rinse the bit every once in a while (seemed to make the progress more steady). I've not cracked anything... yet. I've got four big holes to drill in a 150, though, so we'll see... I haven't checked on whether or not the sides are tempered, yet. If so, it's back to plastic.
