8” foxface if I returned it every so often?

rehoming is a lot more of a problem than what most would think. Best case scenario, you can catch it easy but can’t immediately find a home. Worst? You have to completely break down your rock work to get the fish out

If you want a smaller, active fish that will actually interact with you, get a Pixy Hawkfish. Warning though - they are not the friendliest to other fish but mine loves to interact with us and watch us all day. Mine also loves to hunt - he gets live glass (ghost?) shrimp every week or two, in addition to other foods.

And Noah, we’re really not trying to bust your chops and poop on the dream.

just trying to share our knowledge so you can have better success at the outset than a lot of us had

I might do research into the tiny butterfly species becaus there might be wiggle room for it
Don’t waste your time getting your hopes up. The biggest problem would be that it would be too cramped and kill your fish and coral.

I want my dt to be fowlr with real live rock and macro then my 20 long plumbed in to be a macro lagoon with like gobies

Looks to be a peaceful community fish but idk in 40g, the general rule in fresh and I’d assume salt(dosent apply to tetras or schooling fish) is minimum 6-7x length 3x width

I don’t want a copper though, I want one that’s half the size

im not sure if there is such a ‘fly. Plenty of other fish that would fit your tank size though.
