ok fellow reefers, I am about to begin my sump build.

Correction on my idea would be appreciated. So I am thinking of going with the skimmer area being 8 in. , bubble trap 2 in" (3) 1/4 in. glass panes at 1in. spacing, then the return section at 9 in. and refuge on the end at 11 in.
kinda like this. but at 8 in. for the skimmer will a vertex in-80 or 100 fit ? I plan on upgrading skimmer later.

I will split off the return pump for the flow into the refuge area.

I am going with a LifeReef overflow HOB rated for up to 600gph and return pump eheim 1260 is 634gph

I am alittle unsure on what size of return pump size to use or get. I just heard tunze or ehiem to get....but gotta get the sump built first.

oops, also how tall should the baffles be? I was thinking the return being 8-9 in. and for maint. or power out the flow back into the sump I would still have enough room from the overflow drain.

Well last night you inspired me to do my design for my 40 breeder sump. I would say that 1" between baffles on your bubble trap is a bit much, Maybe 1/2". That return pump at 634gph is gonna be just about perfect. You will be matching your flow coming from the tank, plus a little more for your pipe to the fuge. I will post a pic of my design I did last night after read your post.

On my plan lay out. Should I do a dual overflow that way each output can run to the filterfloss/skimmer section, and the fuge section? or leave as a single like the drawing, but get the dual, and mod the other downspout and make it a little bit higher as a just in case the main gets clogged by snail or something ?
Cause I am thinking that with the ballvalve on the fuge line I can adjust how much flow into that section....

You will be fine with one overflow. Just run the intake into a y, then put a ball valve on the fuge end to get the flow the way you want it.

Agreed. My sump is exactly the same as your design. Is the display tank drilled or overflow box. I almost used a 20 long for my sump but I went with a 30 instead and I'm glad I did. Because when the power goes off with a drilled tank the back flow would have been a mess. Oh yeah in my plumbing build I incorporated as many unions as I could and I'm glad I did. A one way check valve is nice too. Here's a pic of my system early on.
