Hello

I lit 200W Heather in the refugium are ,in the sump , and I don't think this is enough,
The Heather have been running the whole night , the temperature is increasing, bit it 74.5f now. (The tank is cycling. No fish, no corals)

Do I need a bigger heater or the placement is bad ?

Those sumps have good flow so placement isn't critical. I run a RSR170 and 150 watt is minimum I need to get to 80F (of course house temps make a big difference). I would think you're under powered by up to 100 watt (more if cold room, maybe less if hotter room).

I live in CA, so most of the time it is hot here, no heather needed, just the winter time, when the temperature goes down, but it is never 32 or less outside, the tank is downstairs ,the the room temperature may drop to 60 at night or a little less.

I am hoping that adding an another heater ( backup) it will help, or once the TEMP is 78, it will be easier for the heater to keep it stable .
