200W Heater Too Big for 20 Gallon Tank?

Hey guys, I recently purchased a BRS 200 watt heater with an Inkbird controller during the Black Friday Sale thinking I was going to go with a new 40 gallon tank. I instead decided to go with a IM 20 Nuvo 20 gallon tank. Would this heater work with this setup, or would you recommend going with a smaller heater?

yeah kind of overkill, you for a 20 gal you don't need more than 100watts

well to give you an idea. I have a Finnex 100w titanium heater on my 21g. My furnace motor broke last weekend and I was without heat for about 2.5days till they got the part to replace. My game room got down to like 58degrees and my heater was able to keep the tank at 77. so I think 200 would be way overkill and if it ever fails to not turn off would cook the tank really fast

inkbird controllers love to lose calibration. I would not trust a 200 w on a 20 gallon without an extra layer of protection. I have a 50w on my 20 that has its own controller and it is hooked to my inkbird. Inkbird varies 0.6 degrees from other thermometers each day. As it is I am 2 degrees offset on the calibration....

Thanks for the input. I will plan to get a smaller heater and sell the 200 watt.
