2015 Dream Tank Giveaway

Been a while since I've updated. Tank is doing well. Stable parameters (7.5-8 alk, Ca 500, Mg 1500, pH 8.1-8.3)

Cleaned the skimmer for the first time. Needed to do it months ago. Pulled out a handful of cheato and bubble algae. Better in the skimmer than in the display I guess

Cleans up so nice

Got my triton results in. Not sure how to evaluate the high Mo, I and Si. May need to do a water change. I've been dosing trace elements the past few weeks and I suspect that is the source of it.

I fixed some of the white balance issues from my previous pictures. Some of them were pretty nasty. Apologies for that. Still need to work on DoF and focus a bit.

Wow, been a while since I have updated. I’ve got some big updates. Changing lights to an ATi powermodule hybrid. Had one on an older tank and when a slightly used one came up for sale, I jumped on it.

I’ve got pictures of all the corals for now to compare.

Still running Triton. Unsure if I’ll switch to a CARX later in 2018. I’m going to run this light for 6 months or so and then decide if I need to change regimes. It definitely grows chaeto, corals and apparently stalactites

Today is skimmer cleaning day. Always good when the skimmer can fit into a 5 gallon HD bucket for cleaning. Hot water, vinegar and turn the pump on. Self cleaning.

It was a little scary watching him navigate through the trees etc

Nice cabinet. Is there anything about the stand design youd change or features youd add if you were investing money?

I am getting a stand and coffee table built by Chris Benner as well. It is similar in size to yours.

How was the delivery service?
Was it crated curbside delivery or furniture blanket wrapped ?
Did they help carry it inside.

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I never got the update.

I’d go bigger. :)

Other than that, I probably would have skipped the remote controlled lifts on the canopy. It is a nice feature but has caused many many issues over the years. All user error though, nothing that Chris did when he installed it. I spilt water on the control box and fried it. I had to upgrade the lifts at one point and then the lifts extended beyond the max height and cracked a bulkhead (all while I was in Scotland on holiday).

Delivery service was great. It was delivered to my garage door. I had it in the garage for a few weeks until I was ready to move it indoors. It was crated and very heavy. Lots of protection for the canopy/stand.

He does great work

So for an update on the tank.

I have upgraded the sump, added a DaStaCo calcium reactor and Alkatronic. I changed the lights to an ATi T5/LED hybrid. Equipment wise, that was the last year.

Corals and fish were doing really really well for some time, then a fan fell into the sump overnight and most of my SPS corals RTN/bleached.

That allowed me to change out the sump and re-do the cabinet. It’s much cleaner and easier to work on right now.

Since Dec things have been very very stable and I’m getting amazing growth on several corals (even the few that survived). I’ll try and get some new pics up in the next few days.

I added several anthias to the tank and have another fish ordered from BlueZoo to arrive next week.

I took out the fuge when I re-did the sump and am re-thinking that. I really like the additional filtration and the pods it created.

I’ll likely add a frag tank to right side of the tank in the upcoming weeks/months as I’ve been collecting from frags again. If I do that, I may add a dedicated fuge to the frag rack. I’ll have to think how to implement that.

Good start tho not bad shots
That’s a nice OT

Wow. Been a while since I've posted any updates. Tank is still doing well. I'll upload some pictures. Nothing new equipment wise in a few months, which, according to @FarmerTy is a really good thing
:)

I lost my male clown a couple of months ago and replaced him with a little nugget of a fish. Other than that, no other fish updates.
