Lately my tank has looked more like a eggcrate seminar than a reef tank. So I am moving up.

I am moving my 20g High tank to a 50g Breeder style tank (36x18x18).

As of right now I am going to stick with most of my equipment for this upgrade, which cosists of

50+ lbs of live rock (in tank, and some cooking in a container)
Remora pro skimmer with a mag3 and a skimmer box
3 power heads with a small mod for flow (not the MJ stream flow).
3-4 inches of live sand.
250w DE 14k MH light (I will probably swith this out for a T5 system in the future).

live stock

2 anemones, a sebae and a LTA (the sebae will be traded off soon).
2 clowns (one black ocellaris, and one true perc)
3 hermits (left over)
frogspawn, zoas, and SPS.

-------------------------------------------

Progress so far:

I've purchased the 50g and spray painted the back black. The stand is still in the works. I plan on picking up a mitre saw to finish up the stand this weekend. Woo Hoo!

-------------------------------------------
My intentions for this tank:
I want to create a display tank and actually place frags of my zoas on rocks to grow out. I want to make one rock a PE rock with various PE zoas so that when I look at it under the moonlights it looks like a bunch of green eyes looking back at you. I currently have 3 types of PEs but I hope to increase this supply with time.

Updates coming soon.

I forgot to mention. Future tank inhabitants:

A pygmy angel from saltwaterfish.com along with 2 porecelain crabs. Picking these guys up Friday!

In the future I hope to have an open landscape so that I can keep a yellow tang (tang police beware) and a small wrasse.

I've kept these fish and more in a 55g, but I hope that the new footpring will be better for these fish as there is more room to roam around vs more height.

Ask and you shall receive:

Here is the 20g high in the living room. Ugly isn't.

I need some seio advise from you people. What you would sugest for a tank that is 36x18x18? I really don't know much about seio pumps other than the fact that they are low wattage and high output (Tunze's little brother).

THanks

nice tank! (the new one;)) jk
i would do either 2 seio 820's or 1100's but make sure u get pretty big grain sized sand cause i have that play sand and its way to fine for my seio 820 in a 29 gallon it blows everywhere so after u get ur rock set up with the sand in make sure u watch for the sand storms! but i like it anyways!

hth xavier;)

As for sand storms, I put a crap load of macro algae in the bottom of the tank- it roots the sand down, even with the Tunzes going full blast.

:D
