I have a long 20g tank I'm wanting to turn into a frag tank. I'm new to saltwater and any help is greatly appreciated. What equipment would I need? What do yall recommend?

Had a buddy that took multiple 10 gallon tanks and had a lps frag tank and an sps frag tank. Does the 20 gallon long have any sort of filtration? Pumps? Lights???

Not a bad idea. No I just bought the tank. I was thinking about a cpr bak pak. I know there are a couple different ones. I was wanting to know which filter system, pump, and lights I'd need. Anything else I would need? I ordered black egg crate the other day.

I just set up a 20g long as a QT/frag tank - currently being used as a frag tank. I like its dimensions because it's shallow enough to be used as a frag tank (with a strong enough light) and yet it can also be used for a QT/hospital tank when needed. Mine is built as a mobile system because I do not have a dedicated "area" that it can stay up all the time. Admittedly mine is way overkill, but you may get an idea or two if you'd care to look. Here is the build thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/mobile-qt-tank-with-slide-out-sump.251098/

Heater, water movement, light....and a way of nutrient export, via skimmer or AS, GFO...etc. Many things to think about! What kind of coral are you wanting to keep?

I was thinking about a cpr bak pak, hydro koraila 565, and either a reefbrite xho 24 or an oceanrevive artic t247. What is a good heater? Anything else besides that or any other recommendations beside the stuff I got picked out? As far as coral. I'm not that picky right now. Something easy as this is all new to me.

Personally I would skip the bak pak and just opt for once weekly or monthly water changes, definitely get a wavemaker like the vortech, and lighting doesnt really matter as much anything will do. T5s, halides, or LEDs just personal preference and budget. Heater you could go with the cobalt series or the jager.

Why skip the bak pak? Wouldn't it make it easier? What if I plan to add a fix such as a 6line wrasse or a couple clowns or cleaner shrimp? Just been looking online at ideas and seen what some people had.
