chalk bass are definitely interesting fish, might have to check those out, would a damsel and a chalk bass get along? One of the more peaceful damsels such as a starckii or azure @JayA

I would say they should. Neither is too passive for the other, so chances are good that it could work.

Do you think 1 chalk bass, 1 azure damsel, and the clown pair would be ok together if I rearrange the rockwork?
And the only other fish would be the ywg shrimp pair and cleaner shrimp

I do think that sounds like a good plan. Again add all at the same time. Rearrange the rockwork within 24 hours of intro of the new fish, and fish/shrimp. You don't have an anemone that the clownfish claim, right?

I do have an anemone but the clownfish don’t host it yet, so no

YWG/shrimp pair
Cleaner shrimp
Does this sound good? Both aggression and bio load wise

how do you feel about dropping the azure damsel? Could make your life a little easier... Otherwise, if you love the fish, go for it. It seems to me like you are pushing the limit regarding bioload, but I think compatibility you should be ok, although I really know nothing about the clown goby.

I would be fine dropping the azure damsel, I just prefer it over the chalk bass, clown gobies are really small peaceful gobies, if dropping the damsel is what I need then I will gladly do it edit: I have heard the springeri variant of azure damsels are really peaceful, what do you think about those?

Well, I doubt the damsel will do it. One of mine goes into both anemones in my tank... the other one goes into no anemones in my tank. Mine went in the first day on introduction (it went in the anemone at the LFS before I got it too). I kind of think you should do the chalk bass too if you like it. Probably can't change your mind about any additional fish once you put a damsel in. You could regret leaving it out, and you probably won't regret putting it in.
