Any idea what I’m dealing with?

It starts on the rocks/sand, then stretches up and finally breaks loose and collects on the water surface.

It’s unrelenting.

It's been up close to a year, I think.

I've tried ChemiClean, and after three days, it SEEMS to have gotten more intense.

the ID of your organism does not matter, what matters is tank gallonage.


there is a gallonage/size of tank cutoff where people are willing or not willing to apply the above fix based on work it will require, so it comes down to the size of your reef as to ideal options.

it took two hours to make a reef that was invaded be not invaded above, due to human resolve. WV was simply done being invaded, most are not.

his is part of a thread with four hundred exact same outcomes, that's just one.
choices: blast it out and be done or entertain it for months, and months and months

the way its detached and floating around plus complexing with organic loading (the bubbles at the surface) means the tank needs this depth of cleaning, and other method would be a vast 3rd or 4th best option and likely wont come with a before and after pic set of a direct tank analog anyway
