Here's my Carpet Anemone dominated reef--includes S. Haddoni, S. Gigantea, and S. Mertensii. Picked up the Merten's around Macna, Gig has been with me a little over 3 years, and Haddoni has been with me 8+ years. Have had a hard time keeping fish long term due to the carpet mine field, but I enjoy the nems much more than the fish. This tank is pretty much on auto pilot with monthly water changes. Enjoy and let me know what you think!

I love carpet anemones but I have the fear of them eating my fish.

I have lost plenty of fish to the Haddoni in the 8 years I have had it...wrasses don't seem to last long. Hopefully I can find some fish that stay with me for the long haul.

Update 1/30/18
I have added a few fish--Clown Tang, Foxface Lo, and Trio of Azure Damsels(1 has disappeared) all from Divers Den.
Have been feeding Gig and Merten's pretty regularly and seeing a growth spurt. Some new pics...thanks for following along.

Have your anemones moved much over the years?

Have your anemones moved much over the years?

S. Haddoni moved all over the place when I set this tank up...he was a real pain in the rear, but finally settled. The Gig really hasn't moved since set up. The Merten's moved the first day/two, but not far from current placement. Need to find their happy place in terms of flow/light. Gigs like high flow and are rock dwellers. Haddoni/Merten's are sand dwellers and like lower flow. Hope that helps.

Here's something I've never seen before. These clowns have been with me about 8 years and are laying eggs like clockwork, but ive never seen them have eggs ready to hatch and also lay a new clutch at the same time...anybody seen that?

Nice! What lights do you have?

Old school AI Sols...never upgraded/changed. I actually can't stand them, but don't want to spend the money to buy new lights. Had T5's before this and would go back to them in a heartbeat if I didn't have sticker shock.

Been a while since my last update. Been having some issues with keeping fish alive as my S.Haddoni has caught a few fish(kupang/azure damsels, foxface, Orange shoulder Tang)...looking to add some larger tangs and looking for some recommendations. Let me know what you think and thanks for looking!

I love your tank! Thanks for updating. I missed this when you posted. Scape is real nice. I like the feather stuff on the right side. Mertensii is my favorite. A rock dwelling reef friendly nem. I sold one I had, but wish I kept it, wish I had room to keep it. Speed bumps in life force us to choose lol. Im grateful gigs are so forgiving once acclimated. I’ve never appreciated softies like I do now. Done the sps thing, but personally the softie coral is underappreciated IMO. Great job on your tank! I love it!

Thanks Taylor! I followed your threads from the beginning...I'm originally from Schaumburg, IL so know your area all too well. Congrats on your transformation and glad to see all went off without a hitch! I, like you, did the SPS thing, but with a family and children, the softie thing is the way for me to go. Thanks for following along!
