Looking to get some input from fellow reefers with a larger tank. This is my first "big boy" tank and I'm curious to know what tangs would be suitable for my new 220. Below is a list of tangs Im considering but please feel free to let me know if some are suitable to be with one another. Thanks for the input, Joe

Powder Brown Tang
Blue Belly Hippo Tang
Clown Tang
Blue Caribbean Tang
Yellow Eye Cole Tang

I currently only have a mated pair of Clarki Clowns in there and also plan to add 4-5 wrasse. As fr th tangs please give me your honest feedback on the Clown tang and if that is a good/bad idea. Everything I read says they are very hit or miss when placed in a tank with other tangs.

I wouldn't do the clown tang, once they hit about 8" they become monsters. The rest of your list looks compatible, I love mimic tangs personally. You don't have any tangs listed in the Zebrasoma genus so you're open to at least one from there.

A cool fish to add would also be a quoyi parrotfish. Reef safe, eats algae like a tang, and only gets to about 8" in most cases. I'll attach a pic of one that was held in QT for me.

Your tank looks good, nice aquascape!

Beautiful fish definitely going to look into getting one. Just checked and my vendor doesn't offer Parrot fish so I need to see where else I can pull one!!! I didn't think the Clown tang was going to fly after everything I read. Might stay low on the tang portion anyway and get the Parrot and a few more Wrasse.

I believe your tank is a 6' tank. I think larger fish like the yellow bellied tang should have at least an 8' tank.

I have a 6' and I have a yellow eyed Kole tang. He is doing well. I have 2 yellow tangs and they are flourishing. They are nice active, healthy and well behaved fish. As a bonus, they are cheap, widely available, do fine in smaller tanks and not very aggressive.

I have heard mixed things about Atlantic blues. They do tend to go to a brown hue as they mature, at least in the wild.

I hear that the powder brown tang s less aggressive than a powder blue. It could do fine.

I have heard of reports of hippo tangs attacking corals. But I do not know how valid that one is.

Tank is 84x24x25

A lot of the fish that I have chosen are because I can get them cheap from my fish vendor. So stocking the tank is going to come easy. I just want to make sure I'm not over doing it or adding anything that'll be a problem later.

I may put an X on the Atlantic Blue as I've read too that they tend to get a washed out color later as they get bigger. But will dig deeper into that to make sure that is the case.
