Ok so I'm starting a 220 that has been cycling for 4 weeks now bare bottom (first time doing bare bottom) with 250lbs of dry rock I used micro bacter 7 to seed bacteria And I did put in 5 baby chromis after a week, temp is 77F. Salt .025 So I have two questions.
First it's been a month and still only .25ppm ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate. It's been that way since I added the chromis. So my question is should I expect an ammonia spike before I see nitrite or is this just going to be really slow?
Second my plan is to have an all SPS reef. These are the fish I want is it to heavy a bioload?
5 blue/green chromis
5 lyretail Anthias
Emperor angelfish
Gold nugget clown
Fox face
Flame hawkfish
Yellow Tang
Naso Tang
Mystery wrasse.
I already own the yellow Tang and foxface but they will soon out grow the 70 gallon they are in. Again the chromis are already in the tank and doing great.
Thanks in advance for advice.

What test kit are you using?

I don't think that's too many fish. Assuming you have some serious filtration going on

So test kit is just cheap API. As far as filtration I have a sump I built from a 75 gallon it has filter socks, a skimmer rated for a 300 gallon, and a pass through uv sterilizer both are currently off until cycle is complete. I also plan on having cheto in the refugium. Is that going to be adequate filtration?

Api is extremely unreliable for ammonia testing. Your chromis are alive so you could be in the clear. Best to get a different test (maybe your lfs will run a test for you)

That sounds like a solid filtration plan. If you want a little extra and can spare between $2-30 @laverda has a fool proof algae scrubber design. It's cheap and takes all of 5 seconds to build

It started at 0 for the ammonia then went to .25 but I still have not seen any nitrite or nitrate so that's what I'm really wondering about.

If you have a 70 gal, why not move over all the inhabitants and established rock to the new tank?
With established rock, your tank will be up and running with coral much more quickly and smoothly.

The 70 currently has bit of an aipstasia problem so I dont want to put that in my new build and I kinda like the 70 how it is. The only things I want to move is yellow Tang and the foxface just because they will need more room plus all the rock in there has coral on it mostly soft and lps.
